Drag and drop
Dropping an image file onto the editor is the fastest path to import. The drop target is the entire canvas region.
What happens when you drop
Section titled “What happens when you drop”- A dashed-border overlay appears the moment your cursor enters the canvas region with a file in hand. “Drop to import” is the cue.
- Release the file. A small Drop mode picker modal opens.
- Pick the destination:
- Import as New Layer on the active asset
- Use as Reference Image for tracing
- Import as Tileset - slice the image into ready-to-stamp tiles (shown in packs with a tile workflow; see Import a tileset)
- Click and the import resolves - for the layer path, the same resize / crop prompt as the File → Import as New Layer… path appears.
Format and size limits
Section titled “Format and size limits”Same as the Import menu paths:
- PNG, JPEG, WEBP
- 4 MB max
Files outside the bounds are rejected with an inline error.
Multi-file drops
Section titled “Multi-file drops”Hexcalibur reads only the first file from a multi-file drop.
